The Dead Ringer

An Agatha Raisin Mystery

With the exception of this book, M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin series is a delightful read. If this is the first Agatha Raisin book you read, you will probably never read another one. I have actually written to Ms. Beaton to express the opinion that her publisher and editor have done her a great disservice by publishing this book before it was ready. The book is rife with egregious editorial mistakes such as misspelling Samuel Johnson's (of James Boswell fame) last name. Two completely different characters are identified by the same first and last names all within the same half page. The plot is all over the place and, even with overlooking grammatical and punctuation errors, some of the dialogue makes no sense. Enjoy the other books in this series, but don't bother with this one.
