She does a beautiful job of bringing to light in clear & compassionate terms the struggle to remain both authentic & empathetic in a diverse & at-times divisive world of opinions & broken journeys. The section about dehumanization is nothing less than stunning & useful to all extremes (This week alone I've overheard more than 1 threat of violence directed toward the opposite political "wings"). This book is a cornerstone, & I believe an imperative in social & academic circles going forward. The audiobook, read by the author, is the best format, in my opinion. In light of the honor & homage paid to Maya Angelou, may I recommend Dr. Angelou's autobiography, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," which is both stunning & excruciating at times, & which you can hear her singing (a climax face-to-face moment at Oprah's studio to Dr. Brown's journey as well.)
