The music of Chet Baker so epitomized the the essence of "cool" West Coast jazz style of the 1950s. His best performances, in my opinion, were in intimate small group settings where his understated style and smooth vocals could shine. He led a rough life due to his struggles with drug addiction and died at only 58 years old. This book may contain material not suitable for younger readers. But don't judge him just by his personal shortcomings. Listen to what he plays. There is great sensitivity and lasting timeless beauty in his music to be appreciated by all.
