Tanenbaum used to be one of my my favorite authors. I used to wait restlessly for the next book, and frequently reread an old one if it was taking too long to get my hands on the latest. Interesting characters, compelling plots and great writing kept me coming back for more. Unfortunately, I'm going to cross him off my list. He has been using terrorism as his plot focus, has stopped developing my old favorite characters (though they are mostly still there, only now overseas carrying out assassination assignments for the government) and has joined all the old burnt-out authors in giving us thin books with double-spaced lines and/or wide margins. Good-bye old friend. Thanks for the decades of great books. I'll miss you.
