North Korea's Hidden Revolution

How the Information Underground Is Transforming a Closed Society

A comprehensive introduction not only to information sharing in North Korea, but also North Korean culture and history in general. Ample first-person stories from people from a variety of backgrounds lend strong weight to Baek's arguments. This book is a needed addition to my must-read list of recommendations for anyone interested in learning more about North Korea beyond failed missile tests, alongside (and possibly even supplanting) similar title Nothing to Envy about everyday life in the DPRK. While Nothing to Envy has a slightly broader scope, it is somewhat dated in comparison. (This book should also pair well with my follow-up suggestion of Without You, There Is No Us.)
