This book consists of 30 exciting and adventurous stories that are hilarious. I highly recommend this book. Many children find it difficult to read chapter books, but Wayside School is Falling Down if filled with a bunch of short stories that keep the reader constantly wanting to read more. Some of the other stories in the book consist of Mrs. Jewels who is teaching the students about gravity. She receives a package that contains a computer. Mrs. Jewels than drops the computer out of the window to demonstrate how gravity works. Benjamin Nushmutt is a new student at Wayside School, and he is ashamed of his name, Mark Miller, and he makes an effort to convince all of the students that his name is actually Benjamin Nushmutt and not Mark Miller. He even goes to the extent of leaving his unclaimed lunch, with the name Mark Miller, on the teacher’s desk for lunch time. Then there is the student Mac, who constantly interrupts Mrs. Jewls. Mrs. Jewls attempts to teach a lesson on decimals and Mac interrupts her about his socks that do not match. Mrs. Jewls then begins to teach a lesson on dinosaurs and Mac interrupts her about watermelons. Mrs. Jewls then gives up and decides that she is going to just assign extra homework and Mac then complains about it. One of my all time favorite stories is the story of Paul who struggles daily with not pulling Leslie’s pigtails. Leslie finally tells Paul that she is trimming her hair and saving Paul from his struggle of wanting to pull Leslie’s hair. Paul becomes so excited that he falls out of the window. Leslie goes over to the window and extends her pigtail and pulls Paul back up to safety. Then there is the story of mush how the students have eaten mush for 18 days in a row. Ron surprises everyone when he actually orders mush which causes him to kiss the first person that he sees. There is also the prune juice story. Jenny drinks prune juice before school and has to arrive late to school. Jenny misses Mrs. Jewls story and when she finally makes it to school she is allowed to read the story to herself.
