Loved it.
I couldn't stop turning the pages of this book! It was so good that I finished it only TWO days. I love Heather Gudenkauf and have read all of her books this is by far one of her best of not her best. I'll be surprised if this doesn't become a New York Times Bestseller. I am so happy she took the time to write this book. I think I might get a copy to so I can put it on my bookshelf and read it over again. That's how good it is! So I encourage you to get out there if you have every read one of Heather Gudenkauf books and like it. You'll be sure to like this one.
When the cold case you're investigating is your teenage BFF.......
I'm a big, big fan of Heather Gudenkauf. At the center of her latest is Maggie, a detective, who is seven months pregnant and working on a recently-reopened cold case: the murder of her childhood best friend. This thriller has dual timelines: present-day and the murder two decades previous.
If you're into intriguing characters and family secrets, you'll get wrapped up in this mystery in no time at all.
For twisty mystery fans. Lots of moving parts and people behaving really badly in this small town mystery.
Hmm, how do I review This Is How I Lied without giving anything away?
This Is How I Lied has in interesting premise but is completely far fetched . There's a lot going on in this story with interspersed backstory to the mystery, unlikely complications to solving it and far too many misleading threads. None of the major characters are even a bit likeable and I would hate to live in that little town. Good grief.
The story kept me reading, but the ending is predictable and I am disappointed in the easy way out solution. The "This is how I lied" part really let me down.

Eve was killed 25 years ago - the killer was never found. Now her best friend Maggie is a detective and is working on the case after new evidence was found. Who was the killer - we are led down many path during the course of this story and we are left guessing until the very end. This is a fast read that certainly keeps your attention as you try to piece it all together.
