Twelve shocking paintings. Eleven famous murders. One missing artist . . . A Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine Selection Kim Lord's groundbreaking new exhibition, Still Lives, features portraits in which she depicts herself as famous murdered women, and the works are as compelling as they are disturbing, implicating a culture that is too accustomed to violence against women. When Lord never shows up to her own gala, editor Maggie Richter gets drawn into her own investigation of Lord's disappearance, fearful that the artist might have met the same fate as the women in her paintings. I typically love books in the Reese Witherspoon book club, but I really did not enjoy this. Firstly, I could not figure out the lead character - I kept wondering if there was going to be a surprise twist at the end. I also could not keep track of all the different other characters. So, I guess I did not love the character development. But I also did not love the plot. And the whole topic was really gruesome. I would not recommend this book unless you like thrillers and confusing character development.

This one could keep you up overnight as you race to find out who done it. An artist recreates the scene of murdered women as her art pieces using herself as the model. When she disappears, the heroine is soon placed at risk as well. The art world is full of intrigue as you read. Keep the lights on the doors locked until you know who the murderer is.

For most of the book I found the plot was pretty slow and just dawdled, but around page 200 it picked up and flew by. Wasn't super satisfied with the ending.
