The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling new romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy. London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.   But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?   From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

I don't know what possessed me to read this book. Terrible. I didn't even get past the first page before I wanted to toss this trash. I could feel my brain cells battling for survival. I didn't realize it was another 50 Shades type novel...considering I only read the first book in that series before I had enough, it wasn't such a surprise I hated this book. The story and premise sounded interesting. The smut just ruined a great idea. If you loved the 50 Shades series you'll probably enjoy this read.

Dreadful. Painful to read. Can’t even finish it.

I really wanted to like this book because I liked the 50 shades series. This book was disappointing, it was way too long. The characters are shallow and difficult to relate too. Some of the description was so redundant I ended up skipping pages. The story gets remotely interesting towards the end and then it’s over! Would not recommend reading it!

I haven’t read 50 shades of grey but I’m guessing this is quite similar. I thought it dragged on quite a bit but that may be the whole purpose of these types of books, painting descriptive pictures of intimate moments..,..I think a second book would assist.

Did not like this book. It was predictable the whole way through. I could not even read the whole book because it was a disappointment. Her Fifty Shades books are a lot better then this book.

Loved it! Definitely a different story line but familiar characteristics and themes from the Fifty Shades trilogy. I like how it constantly switches to hers and his points of view. It will make you love Mister Maxim :)

New book from you know who....better not to read reviews, because you will give up before started!

Maxim goes from being Mister to Mister Maxim, to Maxim. And Alessia works her way into Maxim's life and heart. A glorified Harlequin Romance where rich boy meets poor girl and romance thrives. May not be one of the good books I have read but a definite improvement over the Fifty Shades trilogy.

From the author of Fifty Shades of Grey, The Mister is a "passionate new romance and a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page".
