Super book which had lots of twists and turns! I did not expect the ending, and was totally intrigued by all of the characters and their relationships! So good :)

I love this book and really can't wait to plow through the next one. I enjoy the fact the book is written from alternating perspectives.

Written in alternating chapters between the voices of the psychologist and his 17 year old endangered patient, this psycho thriller is a page turner. Does the ending suggest a sequel?

This was my first time reading a book by this author and wow...glad that i did. He writes complex characters that are interesting and flawed.Loved this book! You will too!

Another terrific book by Robotham. Cyrus and Evie make a novel twosome. You might find yourself reading long into the night - unable to stop turning the pages. It could be the forerunner to another mystery involving these two complex personalities. Highly recommend all his books.

Another great read from Michael Robotham. Hopefully this new character will return. She's so interesting.
Only one complaint. Cyrus doesn't have a phone but in one of the chapters he calls "Lenny" the police contact. Not sure how tapped in the numbers on his pager.
Nevertheless the book is a terrific read.

Two different young women, two completely different mysteries. So first I want to say that I really enjoyed this mystery novel. I liked the psychologist/detective Cyrus, and I liked Evie, the young woman he’s asked to evaluate who years ago had been found in tragic circumstances and since has been kicked out of every foster home they could find for her. The other mystery is the murder of a young woman - it was twisty and turny and I didn’t figure out for sure who had done it til pretty close to when it was revealed.

I did have an issue with the book though, and it’s the title. So, two young women happen to be featured in this book. Is one girl supposed to be considered good, and one bad? And then we are supposed to have our expectations twisted? Because, the nice thing about this book is, both characters seemed like young women with complex personalities, neither seemed entirely good or bad. Which is as it should be, since we all contain multitudes. OR, is that what he’s trying to say, that both girls are both good and bad? I don’t know. Because the murdered girl was a champion figure skater, and did well in school, and didn’t get in trouble, and Evie is a troublemaker I feel like they are trying to say “Oh look, one girl is good and one is bad - BUT ARE THEY?!?!?!” This is ridiculous, because everyone who has ever gone to high school or met a teenager knows that the perfect-seeming beautiful champions who have it all together are never really wholesome (Spoiler alert I guess but come on).

I just feel like the title tried to foist an expectation on the reader that was not part of the plot. THANKFULLY. I wonder if the publisher chose the title rather than the author. If that’s the case, let’s let that trend die. This is a really great novel on its own and it doesn’t need to rely on a convoluted, old-fashioned, and inaccurate “there’s two types of girls” trope to get sales. Then again, maybe he is just trying to get a rise out of feminists to get them to write many paragraphs about his great book. If so, score one for Michael Robotham.

This is definitely a set up to a new series, and I’m excited to read more - despite my long and over-thought examination of the title. Write your own titles Michael Robotham! I don’t want to have to complain this much again!
