Attempting to recover from his harrowing experiences in Mexico, in Land of Wolves Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire is neck deep in the investigation of what could or could not be the suicidal hanging of a shepherd. With unsettling connections to a Basque family with a reputation for removing the legs of Absaroka County sheriffs, matters become even more complicated with the appearance of an oversize wolf in the Big Horn Mountains to which Walt finds himself feeling more and more empathetic.

I have always enjoyed reading Craig Johnson's novels. Walt Longmire is one of my favorite characters and you never know what is going to come out of Vic's mouth. If you liked his previous novels then you will enjoy this one as well. Great read while we are self isolating. I really miss the library visits and seeing the library staff; hope they are all well.

This is the first book that I've read from this series, and I enjoyed it. You don't need to have read all the previous books to enjoy this one. I readily empathized with the grizzly, soon retiring, cynical, yet humanitarian local sheriff. The mystery angle was superb and the descriptions of the local flavor were enticing. Well worth it. I've never watched the TV series so I can't compare it. One small pet peeve of mine was that he kept spelling the country of Colombia as "Columbia." Kind of became annoying after awhile. What happened to the editors?

Enjoyed this rapid read, although got a bit weary toward the ending and started skimming. I've seen a few of the TV series and read a few other books by CJ and found myself thinking of the other WY author Box. Both authors describe the areas well. There were several 'things' I learned - always a bonus to add new material to the grey matter. A book without some educational features is a total waste for me. so this delivered.

I LOL'd at the comment about Republic of Boulder (spent many years there) and Bozangeles as descriptions of what has replaced life of 25 years ago.

page 253 regarding lost of memory when throwing a hissy fit over some issue that touches a nerve to one's personal belief system. A little anger management should be considered.

A new and great story about Sheriff Walt Longmire and Absaroka County. Walt's a bit beat up from events in the previous book, which I find a refreshing change from some book series where each book seems to start of so fresh as to have little connection to the previous. Craig Johnson has become one of my favorite writers.

It was so good to get back and have a visit with Sheriff Longmire. I had missed him and it was so nice to settle in with an old friend and join him in another investigation.

This book was a welcomed return to depth of character, wit of sarcasm, bantering, mystery, and the depth of character I had enjoyed so much from Craig Johnson. He has done it again. Everything in this story melded together seamlessly and clearly. Intriguing, tantalizing, mysterious, and captivating. Was it the element of Walt's personal struggles? Is Walt get tired and worn? The mix of Walt's inner turmoils, conflicts, and deep inner doubts, was differently a new element to the otherwise amazing career of Sheriff Longmire. This was the right seasoning to this story that made it so rich and engaging, kept you wondering, kept you interested, which was mixed with all the regular antics, wit, sarcasm, as well as a wholesome jolt of sheer masculinity. Craig Johnson writing or better yet, story telling in this book was on the mark and further endeared Walt to his fans, following, and avid readers.

Since, I listened to this story via Audio Books, George Guidall, who has been the narrator for every Walt Longmire story was at his absolute best. As many other listeners have already stated, he is the voice of Walt Longmire. His reading performance in this book was on the spot.

If there is a criticism, it would only be there is a lot of reference in the beginning to Walt Longmire #14. It is not that you have had to read it to completely understand what is going on in this story, but quit a bit reference is made to it, it would behove you to read that story before reading this story. If you don't, you will not be lost nor loose appreciation for this story.

Longmire is back! High plains vistas, repercussions from the experiences in Mexico, native spirits, and he might actually start using a computer!
