Deadly Class is an action graphic novel series about a misfortunate American teen growing up in the 80's, who attends an undercover academy that trains student to become elite assassins. I liked this read because of its enthralling story telling and unique artwork.
Deadly class takes the widely popular plot line of "a new kid in school" and puts a spin on it with violence, drugs, assassins, mob bosses, and the negative impacts of society, while still keeping the same core values of a coming-of-age story. The art style is amazing and fully conveys the graphic novel's dark and edgy theme. It's very expressive and the action scenes just seem to jump right out of the page. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the start. However, at times I felt that the constant "society is bad" commentary throughout the book got too negative, redundant, and depressing. Overall, I rate this title 4/5 stars and a good read for any angst lovers. @Jacques of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

It's violent, dark, and possibly hopeless, but this is a neat comic about a high school for assassins. I believe it has been picked up for filming at some point. The art really compliments the storytelling.

I love the idea of the story and the artwork, but the story did not have a good direction of what it represented. I felt like there were no real consequences even when someone was killed. There's a lot of good ideas, but there aren't put together in this volume. Hopefully there will be better improvement for the next volume.

Love this comic even thought the newer issues aren't all that great. Picture Hogwarts, but instead of wizards, kids are learning how to be assassins. If you're a fan of 1980s punk/style, this is a fun read.

Teenage angst thrown in with assassin school. Its action packed and fun. Remender does his usually wonderful job of making great but flawed characters throw into a wacky setting and backstory.
