In an apocalyptic near-future world, a mother and her two small children must make their way down a river, blindfolded. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them -- but is it man, animal, or monster? Within these tracks, Malerman, a professional musician, discusses his love of horror and invokes an ethereal and atmospheric experience in an homage to Orson Welles à la War of the Worlds.

This book was amazingly written. It keeps you in the dark about what the creatures are and why they do what they do.
This story is filled with tragedy, remorse, and uncertainty.
The ever intertwining thoughts that rolled around in Malorie' s head, to what dangers lurked beyond the curtains?

A realistically written piece of fiction.

Well-written, but the premise hung on very flimsy logic in some places and there are a few "oh, come ON" moments. As a debut novel, though, it's certainly interesting enough to merit investigating the author's other work; he has a highly readable style.

I enjoyed the fact that it was placed in Michigan. Other than that it was rather boring just one of those books you just get through to see what's going to happen and no bang for your buck at the end. I read this book prior to the movie I don't understand why people like the movie which I've never watched because the book was not that good.

I absolutely loved this book! The movie was great, the book was better! If your anything like me and enjoy scaring yourself with apocalyptic thrillers this is for you! Its filled with twists and jumps from past to present but is easy to follow and a quick read! I read it in just a few sittings!Thumbs way up!

I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would. The writing style was choppy and almost staccato in nature and I was concerned that the style would make it difficult to convey details and emotions. I got used to it though and now recognize that the writing aided in the heightened sense of confusion and suspense. I highly recommend reading "Bird Box" but maybe not as a "reading before bed" book. :)

My first Top Read selection for 2019, and what a doozy of a tale it is! How do writers come up with this stuff? Just plain good story-telling about a group of survivors in an apocalyptic world. Seriously creepy and plenty frightening. And there's always one bad apple in the bunch, but I didn't see this one coming nor the culminating events that will sear into your brain long after you turn the last page. It's a suspenseful thriller that had me going from the get-go and left me jumpy at night. Highly recommended at 4.5 stars.

Sandra bullock performs and amazing role in this movie based on best selling book. In the movie the seemingly calm world is turned upside down when unknown supernatural entities take over causing people to go insane and commit suicide if looked at. This goes on for five years with them living in complete isolation until they embark down the river. I really enjoyed the concept of this movie because it is very unique. I would recommend this movie for older audiences because some of the subject matter can be unsettling. I believe the acting was bad at times and the story was somewhat predictable. Other than that I would recommend this movie. I rate this movie a 4 out of 5. @movieslayer123 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Bird box is a very interesting book as it presents a scenario where a person has to avoid using their sight as to not be drawn to suicide from the beings outside or killed by other humans. The book does an excellent job at establishing the characters and creates a connect that causes immense pain once one of them dies. Our lead character is a strong women who is hellbent on protecting her children and teaches then life since birth without sight. The ending to this book is extremely bleak and heart wrenching but neither the less still an amazing ending to a good story. Some issues this story has is the plot is a bit to simplistic and at points the children are used as a plot device too much but this still doesn't diminish the quality of this book. As with this book I would recommend watching the Netflix movie, but be warned there are some changes for better or for worse. 4/5 Stars. @TheCollector of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Couldn't put the book down, but the ending was disappointing. It did leave room for a sequel, so who knows....
