"A shocking stunner in every way. The perfect thriller." --Robert Crais

When darkness closes in--he's your last, best hope. Evan Smoak returns in Gregg Hurwitz's #1 international bestselling Orphan X series in Out of the Dark.

Taken from a group home at age twelve, Evan Smoak was raised and trained as part of the Orphan Program, an off-the-books operation designed to create deniable intelligence assets--i.e. assassins. Evan was Orphan X. He broke with the Program, using everything he learned to disappear and reinvent himself as the Nowhere Man, a man who helps the truly desperate when no one else can. But now Evan's past is catching up to him.

Someone at the very highest level of government has been trying to eliminate every trace of the Orphan Program by killing all the remaining Orphans and their trainers. After Evan's mentor and the only father he ever knew was killed, he decided to strike back. His target is the man who started the Program and who is now the most heavily guarded person in the world: the President of the United States.

But President Bennett knows that Orphan X is after him and, using weapons of his own, he's decided to counter-attack. Bennett activates the one man who has the skills and experience to track down and take out Orphan X--the first recruit of the Program, Orphan A.

With Evan devoting all his skills, resources, and intelligence to find a way through the layers of security that surround the President, suddenly he also has to protect himself against the deadliest of opponents. It's Orphan vs. Orphan with the future of the country--even the world--on the line.

Orphan X is back for more! More action, more justice, more vigilantism, more everything!

In Out of the Dark Ethan faces his most powerful adversary yet. Ethan has nothing to lose and everything to gain if he can vanquish this powerful foe. His work ethic, sense of loyalty and commitment to justice ensures that nothing will get in his way. But will he succeed this time? Or is this goal too difficult, even for him?

Receiving a plea on the RoamZone for help from Trevon only complicates matters. But Ethan can never turn away from someone in need, and no one has ever been more in need of help than poor Trevon. As the stakes remain high in both missions, the reader is along for the ride as Ethan plans his attacks...

Pros: Trevon is an extremely likeable, heart wrenching character...and Ethan was his usual awesome self, with more than a few things in common with Trevon. There is just something awesome about this series...a modern day Robin Hood overcoming his more powerful enemies for the greater good...you just can’t help but cheer for him.

Cons: Has this series run its’ course? I’m not sure...I really like his adventures, but a lot of things got wrapped up in this one. If Orphan X goes on from here, it will most likely be on a whole new tangent...which could be good as well!

If you haven’t been along on Ethan’s journey thus far, you are missing out. Don’t start with this one - Orphan X is the beginning of this story...you won’t be sorry!

This book would make a good graphic novel. It has the action that graphic novels illustrate so well and the street language that is spouted by its characters. The first half of the book sets up the action for the last half and thus follows several storylines to explain Orphan X's turn around. I found the first half rather uninteresting but this changed as the story progressed. I found the language of the characters, especially the villains, off putting, but maybe those types of characters need that type of language. Expect to read the minute details of weapons and how they work, much like a Lee Child book. Orphan X travels a lot in this book both abroad and in the US, so I found myself asking frequently, " Where is this action taking place?" Probably more a book that would appeal to guys.

I love the Nowhere Man series. Things happen in this book that I did not expect to happen. We get to experience the soft side of Evan when he is with Mia and Peter. Orphan X shows that he can be humorous also. A bit of multi-tasking in this book.

One of the best of the Nowhere Man series. Great action and lots of technical detail.
