After a stalker went too far, Hannah Hilty and her family had no choice but to leave the bustling Amish community where she grew up. Now she's getting a fresh start in Hart County, Kentucky, if only she wasn't too scared to take it. Hannah has become afraid to trust anyone, even Isaac, the friendly Amish man who lives next door. She wonders if she'll ever return to the trusting, easy-going woman she once was. For Isaac Troyer, the beautiful girl he teasingly called 'The Recluse' confuses him like no other. When he learns of her past, he knows he's misjudged her. However, he also understands the importance of being grateful for God's gifts, and wonders if they will ever have anything in common. But as Hannah and Isaac slowly grow closer, they realize that there's always more to someone than meets the eye.

This was a great book of Christian romance/suspense in a large print. I had the stalker figured out early, but still thought the book was great.

I first read stories set in the Amish community by Paul Gaul and enjoyed the fine mystery and exposure to a unique culture. But it didn't impart anything real in the way of Christian faith.
Then I read another "Amish" book more likely characterized as a "Christian romance." It was closer to the pablum of a romance novel with a patina of Christianity. FINALLY I chanced upon this book, Her Secret, by Shelly Gray, and I have a good mystery, plus romance (bonus) and a very realistic, authentic, portrayal of a believer in God and follower of Christ.

This is not your typical Amish story.

Shelley Shepard Gray is a very popular author in the Amish genre. I have read many of her books. Her novels are generally quick reads, but the reader becomes quickly vested in the characters and their development throughout the story.

This books is the first of six in The Amish of Hart County series. According to the author, each book will also be a "stand-alone" novel.

This is a great book for people who like Christian fiction and enjoy a bit of suspense. I typically choose books which are a bit more carefree, but I did enjoy this book.
