Have followed and loved this series. As another reader remarked, I found this one overly long and tedious, and rather dark and depressing. The war has ended, but in some cases the aftermath was worse. Hope the next one has a bit more life.

Having read most of the Bess Crawford books, I found this one lacking! It’s a rather dark tale which seems to drag on and on! Not up to the prevoius level of Todd books! Mother and son running out of creative juices?

I've read all of the Todd books and found this one disappointing. Tedious and frustrating in the whole middle section, and some murder reasoning just didn't make sense.

I love this series and the main character Bess Crawford. I wondered what the authors would do with her after the war ended, but they have produced another fascinating story. The setting on the Welsh coastline is very well done - palpable.
