Anise can't wait to spend the summer before her senior year surfing and hanging out on the beach with friends. But when her aunt, a single mother, is in a serious car accident, Anise must say goodbye to California to help care for her three young cousins. Landlocked Nebraska is the last place Anise wants to be. Sure, she loves her family, but its hard to put her past behind her when she is living in the childhood house of her runaway mother, who has dropped in and out of her life since birth. Then she meets Lincoln, a charismatic, one-armed skater who dares her to swap her surfboard for a skateboard. Anise isn't one to shy away from a challenge. Because sometimes the only way to find your footing is to let go.

i would DEFFINETLY recommend to ANYONE AT ALL but the ending is a bit too cut short for my liking but that doesn't change the fact that YOU SHOULD READ THIS AMAZING BOOK NOW!!! its really good and I've said it a lot of times too.

The perfect summer read of feeling out of place, but somehow still finding home.

The book overall was good. However, I just felt like the characters were very one dimensional. I didn't feel the connection between Lincoln and Anise at all, and we didn't really know much about any of the characters besides their names and a little background. There were also unresolved issues, like the post-card from Anise's mom, or what would happen with Lincoln and Anise.

A good read, but slightly disappointed.
