Orphaned by the war and enslaved by Odysseus himself, Alexi has a very different view of the conquering heroes of legend. Despite a simmering anger towards his captors, Alexi gradually develops a grudging respect for them. As the Greeks fight off the angry Cicones, weather a storm that pushes them far beyond charted waters, and nearly succumb to the blandishments of the bewitching Lotus-eaters, he realizes that they are not the demons they were said to be, but people like himself.

This novel was definitely an interesting one. It's about a Trojan boy named Alexi who gets captured by the Greeks in the midst of the Trojan War. He then has to live among Greek soldiers while they travel back to the far away land of Ithaca. Along the way they face many challenges, and they even almost die a few times.
It all started when the Greek soldiers left after 10 years of war. All the Trojans could think about is celebrating that the great war is finally over. After a whole night of celebrating, the Trojans finally go to sleep, that's when the Greeks decide to strike. They jump out of the famous Trojan horse and start wreaking havoc on the village. They stumble upon Alexi and his older sister in their home and end up chasing Alexi through the city. Sadly he gets captured by the Greeks and enslaved. He has to help the Greeks throughout their journey. Along the way he even learns something about the whereabouts of his sister.
The title of this novel sums up the plot in only a few words. The novel is called "Torn From Troy" because the main protagonist is torn from his home city of Troy to be a slave for the army that pillaged his city.
I personally enjoyed this novel quite a bit. It satisfied my need for action with very intense battles. It also has very good character development in not only the protagonist but every single character. This novel is a solid 4 out of 5.

This book was one of the first red maple I read, and I loved it! I've read Greek and Roman mythology, but never something like this! One of the best red maple in my opinion.

I though the book was action related and included a lot of adventure. It's interesting how the book is set in olden times and how the main character is enslaved. I enjoyed it because it's a change from the usual genres I read.
