After Olivia Taylor-Jones found out she was not actually the adopted child of a privileged Chicago family but of a notorious pair of convicted serial killers, her life exploded. She found a refuge in the secluded but oddly welcoming town of Cainsville, Illinois, and began working with Gabriel Walsh, a fiendishly successful criminal lawyer. Their investigation soon revealed Celtic mysteries at work in Cainsville, and also entangled Olivia in a tense love triangle with the calculating Gabriel and her charming biker boyfriend, Ricky. Worse, troubling visions revealed to Olivia that the three of them were reenacting an ancient drama pitting the elders of Cainsville against the mysterious Huntsmen with Olivia as the prize.

This is the final book in the Cainsville series. The dynamic between Olivia / Gabriel / Ricky gets an interesting twist, but otherwise I couldn't keep track of the other characters, all the different types of fae, or who was doing what and when. I'm a fan of Kelley Armstrong's work, but this was a bit of a confusing mess.

My first Cainsville series . It was enjoyable but it also had a few chapters that got me bored. But after those, it picked up again, and stayed interesting. While I liked Olivia, Ricky and Gabriel,it was the dryads I fell in love with. They had me laughing, then crying by the end. I look forward to another of the Cainsville novels. Happy Reading!

One of the main reasons I have continued to read the Cainsville series is that I've really enjoyed the unique and complicated relationship between the three main characters. This book continued that trend. A twisty, satisfying conclusion to an entertaining series.

I'm happy I didn't read this series until July, so I only had to wait one month for this book. I'm not sure I could have survived a full year. I set my alarm for 5:30 and there it was waiting for me. "Ah, sweet mystery of life.." Ok. I'll just say it was well worth the wait. Best line evah: "So I shot her." So satisfying.

This last book was not as exciting as the previous ones, but very interesting at how the last "battle" came to be and how it ended. You need this book for closure, that's for sure!!!

A pretty good ending, but it felt a little rushed. A new player is introduced in this last volume, but things still manage to wrap up pretty quickly - a little too quickly. Still, longstanding questions are answered, motives are revealed, and there's enough character growth and romantic tension to be satisfying. Overall, while this isn't my favourite of Armstrong's series, I'd recommend it.
