What made the Great Antonio so great? He weighed as much as a horse! He once wrestled a bear. He could devour twenty-five roasted chickens at one sitting. In this whimsical book, beloved author and illustrator Elise Gravel tells the true story of Antonio Barichievich, the larger-than-life Montreal strongman who had muscles as big as his heart.

I squealed with delight when this book fell into my hands! The Great Antonio was a living legend when I was a young Montrealer. I witnessed him in action pulling a packed city bus down busy Ste. Catherine Street!

Elise Gravel's creative talent shines in this delightful book. She captures how legendary heroes become larger-than-life by blurring the lines between fact and fiction. Her illustrations are whimsical and funny. This book is loads of fun to read out loud if you like to ham it up with expression and sound effects.

The Great Antonio is an amazing book!! I love the art work and how it helps to tell the story. Antonio is a man who was really larger than life. He traveled the world and had many adventures. Even though he was big and strong he was always kind to children and had room in his heart for kindness and love. This is a true story and the whole world is a better place because of Antonio
