Tom Ward is an apprentice no longer - now he is a fully fledged spook battling boggarts, witches, and other creatures of the dark. This three-book arc will introduce brand-new readers to this haunting world. No one trusts Tom's skill, not till he's proven himself. And a 15-year-old girl named Jenny knows more about the three mysterious deaths in the county than Tom does. She is a 7th daughter of a 7th daughter and she wants to be Tom's first apprentice - even though a female spook is unheard of.

The book was wordy but still intriguing. I enjoy how a variety of characters throughout the series end up in the book or most part. The ending had me go whaat.... but I have the continue book and can't wait for that. I am enjoying this style of books. I do not read it but a co worker of mine got me onto them. I started reading seventh son and just kept going.

Oh my heck! What just happened? I'm stunned and a little confused. There were so many changes brought to the story of Tom Ward that I thought I knew how the story would end. Boy was I wrong. I loved it and can't wait for the next installment. Joseph Delaney brought the reader back to the world of a Spook with all the scary elements and nail biting excitement that it felt like we never left. The characters rang true to who they were at the end of the last series and we pick up the story to follow Tom's life as the new Spook. But change was in the frigid air as a new character was introduced and she wants to be Tom's apprentice. I like how we see characters evolving to keep up to an ever changing world and to meet new demands. I am sad but hopeful with the next book.

I think that the plot was ruined, The interchanging perspectives kind of ruined the story, The plot's good, like The Last Apprentice Series, but it just feels different without the illustrations and i did not enjoy it as much as i should have.
