I loved this movie. Best thing I've seen since Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Visually scrumptious but just average in dramatic intensity.
Samuel L. Jackson and his grinning cheekiness might not have been the right choice for scary head villain. Even fairy-dusted fantasies need truly frightening bad guys to be effective.

It was outstanding! I just wish I had seen it in the movies for the epic scenery. Was very well made and the actors were brilliant.

Sorry fans of the book: I liked the movie more! And it's all Tim Burton's fault.

If you enjoyed the book, this film might not be for you. The creative liberties taken with the characters and plot gave the film a different feel than the "world" that was created by Ransom Riggs.

I liked the movie but to be honest the book was better. I decided to watch the movie on the weekend in the middle of the night. The movie was really interesting and cool because of the special effects and acting. The movie is a bit different from the book because in the book Emma is supposed to have fire powers but in the movie she’s flying. I was a bit surprised to see Asa Butterfield from TBITSP because I didn't even know he was going to be in the movie. There's not much to say about the movie but that it's cool and interesting. But I prefer the book, like the bookworm I am :) .4/5 stars.

A brilliantly colorful Tim Burton adaptation of Ransom Riggs's book by the same name: fans of the book will enjoy seeing the characters brought to life, while viewers who have not read the book should be able to follow along without much confusion. The first half of the movie was impressively faithful to the book, and where the second half deviated, I appreciated that it did so in a way that would allow this movie to stand on its own, rather than depending on a sequel that may not come.

The premise of an orphanage for peculiar children is interesting and the fact that they don't all have obviously-useful superpowers or magic abilities is at least a little more realistic, but I think the plot suffers from hanging so much on the villain and his hollows (too much like the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth .. shudder). Miss Peregrine's abilities are a mismatched 2 for 1 that I suppose are necessary for the plot. It just wasn't as good as I expected.

I, actually, liked it.

Tim Burton has definitely lost his touch. Very little plot, poor pacing, way too creepy for the preschool crowd, but the timing isn't appropriate for anyone else.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: People are killed in terrible ways (ex: death by invisible monster able to be seen by few that rips victim's eyes out)

Violence: Lots of violence. Not for kids 12 and under. If you do watch this movie, DO NOT stop in the middle. It has a happy ending and if you see that part it will be easier to sleep in the following night. :P
