Dr Seuss looks at how we all have many different ideas bouncing around inside our heads. Good book to start discussions about making good choices. Or, for older kids, how we all have internal conflicts. Or, you know, just a bit of fun.

A young boy is having a difficult time deciding what to do with his time. Suddenly he is bombarded with hunches. And they come in bunches. Each hunch is telling him something different to do. Some of the things they tell him make sense but others do not. In the end, the boy decides to simply go to the kitchen and eat hot dogs.

The illustrations are fun and colorful. Each hunch has a different and silly hat.

The story concept is a good one. But it is not executed with Dr. Seuss' typical bouncy and fast flowing style. Many of the rhymes do not flow well. And worst of all, the words dumb and stupid appear which should never belong in a book for young children. Dr. Seuss' books usually are written in an uplifting manner, but this one brings you down. The hunches are pointing their finger hats at the boy making him feel pressured which is why in the end he decides to eat instead of following any of the other's advice.

This book is written on a 2.9 reading level. It would be good for 2-3 grade independent readers, but not young emerging readers.
