Journey into the world of book collecting with the Goldstones-rediscover the joy of reading, laugh, and fall in love with books all over again.

The idea that books had stories associated with them that had nothing to do with the stories inside them was new to us. We had always valued the history, the world of ideas contained between the covers of a book or, as in the case of The Night Visitor, some special personal significance. Now, for the first time, we began to appreciate that there was a history and a world of ideas embodied by the books themselves.

Part memoir, travelogue & educational book on couple learning the ropes on first edition books, who buys it & how in the used book industry started by birthday under $40 bet.
Book was published before the internet changed the game & eliminated market inefficiency.
The book sellers, book bargains & first edition prices were so interesting.
However, I mildly curse the authors because now I have to look up Stilwell & the American Experience by Barbara Tuchman, Trollope's Parliamentary novels, Phineas Finn, The Political Education of Arnold Brecht: An Autobiography 1884-1970 & Joesphine Tey's Three by Tey in my growing book list.
Chuckled at authors balking at their babysitter countering their $75 for $150 for babysitting their daughter overnight offer or breaking their daughter's piggy bank to pay for their book collection addiction.
Moaned at all the used book stores that closed by the internet & high rents.
