Wonderfully done. Helen Mirren! I wish I could go to New York (not really--I'm a west coast girl) to see the Klimt paintings. Truly amazing story.

Superb cast, great script, editing, and direction! It's based on a true story, and most of the fictionalizing is done for the script and story pacing. What a great film! Watch the extras too! And probably you will want to watch the documentary too!

Triumphant! Loved it! Even better: based on a true story. I hope more people who had their art stolen will get it back!

This was a good film....twice!
I watched it some time last year and because I enjoyed it I have recommended it to others several times. Then my husband brought it home recently and we watched it again.
I was not bored because I did not remember it!
So, how good could it have been? More likely the problem is mine. On the bright side, I suppose I can be entertained by watching other movies I liked, again!

Excellent movie! I don't usually care for Ryan Reynolds but he did a good job and Helen Mirren was superb as always!

Very enjoyable movie with fine acting and story line. Almost did not check it out, but did...and I recommend it highly.

I don’t know. A predictable drama? Obvious story that’s worth telling? The lawyer, Randy Schoenberg (played by Ryan Reynolds), seems dopey and I couldn’t understand why Helen Mirran stuck with him except for cinematic purposes. It seemed like a paint by number film where David takes on Goliath and wins. Duh. Poor, unconvincing motivations of the characters. Watchable, based on a true story, but I felt spoon fed.

An outstanding film with an outstanding cast, portraying a deeply disturbing piece of history, told with passion and dignity.

A great movie about an Jewish emigrant and her young lawyer taking the Austrian government to court to return a painting of her aunt stolen by the Nazis. Helen Mirren is amazing as usual as Maria Altman and the story is sad and uplifting at the same time.

The movie, with the exception of the opening of Klimt painting Adele Bloch-Bauer's portrait, starts slowly. I think Ryan Reynolds, whom I have come to appreciate, is miscast as the young attorney Randy Schoenberg. But the last third of the film definitely picks up. Helen Mirren's portrayal of Maria Altmann is superheroic. It does great justice to the aged who often live with the past fully present. The final scene is particularly affecting.

"Enjoy Disneyland!" archly stated by Maria Altmann to the defending Austrian attorney. Before the American court trial, he smugly states he's here to kill two birds with one stone: win the suit against her, and visit Disneyland.
