The show reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific, as beautiful as it is treacherous, unaware that they're crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.

+1 Disc played
+1 Great action scenes
+1 Kong is a super cool character
-1 Plot
-1/2 Characters in film

Plot differs from original story, but is one that's been done plenty of times before. Too much time is spent on a blind quest for revenge.

Characters and story are cliched to death but the graphics are impressive and there are a few entertaining moments (mainly John C. Reilly).

I thought this was pretty good. A cross between Jurassic Park, Godzilla and Predator. Remember to keep watching after the credits, 'cause there's an extra scene showing coming attractions.

Good Movie, I hate that you get to see Samuel L. Jackson again(give someone else some work)
The Movie explains the need for Kong.

TH watched this movie twice in one day! I thought this was a good monster movie as well and I appreciated the "old school" treatment--no gore and guts, just blood and screaming. Some interesting camera angles chosen; as TH said for one of the helicopter crashes you "see thru the eyes of the chopper". Perfect film to kick back and enjoy after a long week at work. :)

Nice piece of re-imagination of the classic myth with fine CGI on the battles between Kong and those helicopters, and between Kong and Komodragonzilla in Jurassic Park. Long live the King. 4 stars for the graphics but what was the too-pale-pretty-boy-without-a-scar Middleton doing in the film as a tracker. He asked Rander (Goodman): "An uncharted island? Let me list all they ways you gonna die. Rain, heat, mud, disease carrying flies and mosquitoes."

This is not your dad's King Kong. It's not your grandpa's King Kong. Nor his dad's. Yes, Kong is that old. Sadly, this movie gets old really fast. Positives: Special effects are top notch. Cinematography is gorgeous. John C. Reilly provides just enough comic relief. Negatives: Plot. Acting. Character development. The acting is mostly wooden. The plotting is predictable. And character development is non-existent. Might want to watch the 2005 version instead (or as well). Definitely watch the original 1933 version. Sure, it's an old movie and clunky, but it's still the best, story-wise. The 2005 remake is a close second.

Other than trying to guess which character would be the next to die, got bored with this movie very, very quickly.

Good for a popcorn monster movie. That's about it.
