This is not only a hunt for a serial killer, it’s a social commentary and an obituary for once-great newspapers. Well-written as always. Be sure to read The Poet first.

Part of the not-connected Trilogy of Book 1 THE POET, Book 2 THE SCARECROW, Book 3 FAIR WARNING. They all feature the same newspaperman character and all have the alternating chapter formats of the lead character and the criminal. …

Fair but not great. Not one of Connelly's best. A bit of a departure from his smash hit Harry Bosch/Mickey Haller series.

I do not understand all the admiration for this book. Too many boring details about IT stuff. Many complaints about today's journalism. And then, of course, always powerful FBI. Not interesting book. Barely finish reading it.

And easy quick read - sometimes blazingly fast...but I thought it had a weak ending and some "implausible" convolutions. Even if all fiction were implausible it ought not to seem that way when one reads it. But all in all, a pleasant day…

Enjoyed the details of newsroom politics and current defeat by digital media, as well as the techno-geeks and their desert data center.

Good but not among his best. I don't find McEvoy as memorable as guys like Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch.

Easy to understand why this thriller?s atop the NY Times bestseller list. The well paced plot of twists and turns is worthy for any lover of good suspense. 9 of 10 stars

This was a very good book. Mysterious. It had me at the edge of my seat wanting to know when would he catch this 'bad guy'. It's a good book but not one of his best.

This book was very good although I prefer the Lincoln Lawyer stories more. But his writing is excellent, lots of suspense and lots of twists and turns.

I love Michael Connelly but this one was not his best. There were too many references to past books ,some I remembered and some I didn't. The story was good at first but then it became dull. It seemed to go in too many directions.…

I'm not sure if I'm making a huge mistake, but the book didn't compel me to continue on past the 5xth page. Not one of his best.
