I read up to page 15, then had to walk away from the book. The writing style of the author is quite different than is typical. It's convoluted inner character dialogue with slow advancements in the plot. She writes in the perspective of…

I kept on wondering 'what are you thinking????' Many of the characters seemed stuck in their own hells and definitely not able to see beyond the next smoke or drink or drug hit. I wanted to shake them and say 'Snap out of it! Look around…

This book left me angry. Angry about the injustice faced by many of the characters. Angry at the patriarchal world we live in. At times I wanted to hurl the book at the wall in frustration. And I think that was the author's goal. 5 stars.

a look under the veneer of 'the good life' in St. John's ties that bind can damage and break trust and friendship can be manipulated and abused survival can hang by a thin thread I wasn't sure about reading this book, but I'm glad I…

I haven't finished this book yet but want all my friends to read it so that we can discuss the characters. It took me a bit to getting into the writing style but once I did I was hooked!
