It feels dated-- the monkey smokes a pipe, as does the man with the yellow hat. Also, I find the opening credits long-winded. The credits appear on both track 1 and track 2, which makes no sense. We mostly listen in the car and skip to the…

My children love this story so much. They are always interested in every details of monkey George's story and learn a lot of useful lessons.

I always feel funny reading this story to my child. It has a rather graphic kidnapping scene, a monkey smoking a pipe, & getting thrown in jail. Definitely a classic, but I find myself skimming over the less appropriate pages.

My son loved this book. He watches the television show on PBS and has seen both of the Movies, yet somehow, the book really kept him! He's a bit easy to distract too, so I was impressed! Great job R.A. Rey!

At one point in this story, it shows a picture of George smoking a pipe (with smoke, not bubbles, coming from the pipe), and says something along the lines of, "after a good pipe, George goes to sleep."

What can you say about H. A. Rey's magnificent classic except that no child should miss it.
